Did you know…

ATTORNEYS ARE “OFFICERS OF THE COURT”
Corpus Juris Secundum (abbreviated as C.J.S. or CJS is Latin for “body of law”) is an encyclopedia of United States federal and state law. In Volume 7, you’ll find Section 4 – Attorney & client, which states: “The attorney’s first duty is to the courts and the public, not to the client, and wherever the duties to his client conflict with those he owes as an officer of the court in the administration of justice, the former must yield to the latter.”
It goes on to say “The office of attorney is indispensable to the administration of justice and is intimate and peculiar in its relation to, and vital to the well being of, the court.”
HOW HIRING AN ATTORNEY AFFECTS YOUR RIGHTS

In Volume 7, C.J.S., § 2: “A client is one who applies to a lawyer or counselor for advice and direction in a question of law, or commits his cause to his management in prosecuting a claim of defending against a suit in a court of justice, one who retains the attorney, is responsible to him for this fees, and to whom the attorney is responsible for the management of the suit, one who communicates facts to an attorney expecting professional advice. Clients are also called “wards of the court” in regard to their relationship with their attorneys.

“WARD OF THE COURT” STATUS IMPACTS YOUR RIGHTS

Wards of court are defined as: “Infants and persons of unsound mind placed by the court under the care of a guardian.”

Unsound mind is: “Non-legal term referring to one who from infirmity of mind is incapable of managing himself or
his affairs. The term, therefore, includes insane persons (see insanity). It exists where there is
an essential deprivation of the reasoning faculties, or where a person is incapable of
understanding and acting with discretion in the ordinary affairs of life…see also capacity.”

There are other terms you should learn.
